The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have examined. They feature motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture leg. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and operates while you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum cleaners reviews vacuum for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and provide better cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy models from the rivals. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and a little more cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine robots that vacuum and mop takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to how dirty they tend to be.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for models with spot or zone cleaning robot mop and vacuum modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one specific area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have large furniture. Additionally a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd expect from its price tag. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also provides access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
