BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost uses CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This prevents thieves from putting in keys or replacing the ECU to bypass your security system as it requires a correct PIN code to start the engine.

The Ghost is unique to other immobilisers as it doesn't use key fobs or LED indicators. Instead, it uses the buttons on your vehicle to allow you to enter a specific disarm sequence that only you are aware of.

Stop & Start

If you have ever driven a new BMW or utilized the stop start feature, then you might have noticed that once stopped the engine will continue to continue to run for around 30 seconds after you release the brake pedal. The BMW engine management system continues to watch the vehicle for signals that comes from the ignition key. If it detects this the vehicle will continue to operate. Our BMW ghost immobiliser is an innovative next-generation device that does not require cutting OEM wires or installing an aftermarket alarms and key fobs. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network, and is programmed with a unique PIN code that can be accessed by buttons in your car. This lets you enter key sequences that are not available in the normal menus for media. For example volume up/down, source, air conditioning, cruise control etc. The PIN is between 4 and 20 characters, making it very difficult for thieves to figure out.

In addition to this we can also add a service / valet mode to the system, this is activated when your car is scheduled for maintenance to ensure that the Ghost remains hidden from the garage. This can be done by pressing the service button on your infotainment system 5 times (the system will flash to confirm this) and when you return, the Ghost will automatically re-arm.

Anti-Hijack

With the advent of high-tech thieves becoming increasingly and more sophisticated, the technology in security systems has to change, that's why Ghost has developed this discreet and unobtrusive immobiliser. It is designed to stop thieves from adding keys or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive off. Ghost is connected to your CAN network, and uses buttons on your vehicle to create an individual push-sequence that has to be entered before your engine can start.

When the anti-hijacking feature is activated, any attempt to restart the engine will be thwarted. The system will sharpen the horn, flash the indicators and stop the vehicle when the code isn't found. The Anti-Hijack feature is removed by entering your push sequence, or by entering service mode which allows your car to temporarily begin and drive, without having to enter your PIN.

If you have a GPS device connected to your BMW, you can use it to disable the Anti-Hijack function so that you can continue to navigate using your navigation system even when the vehicle is stationary. If you own a smart-phone, you can also hook it to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack feature and other functions.

Remote Control

We can connect the Ghost device with your mobile app to enable remote control of keyless start and go functionality. This is useful when a valet or mechanic has to start your car but you need to go somewhere else. The system allows you to turn your vehicle on and off, then select drive and exit service mode without needing keys. You can also view your vehicle in real-time on a map using your smartphone, which is ideal to track your car while on the move.

The auto ghost immobiliser can be placed under the dashboard or within the centre console, it is completely concealed and tamperproof and does not require any additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicle's CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personalised PIN code is embedded into it. This pin code needs to be selected before the vehicle starts. This stops thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU in order to disable this system.

If the vehicle is stolen in any way, the Ghost will enter a service mode and disables all functions until the PIN code is entered or you can utilize the mobile app to disable it. It also stops thieves from being able to use their mobile phone to turn on your sat-nav or MP3 player to track your vehicle!

Ghost also stops the 'Relay Style Frequency Amplifier'. This is the most typical method of preventing a vehicle from being stolen with a key-fob that was copied or stolen by hacking. Ghost allows you to stop this by installing a security device to prevent theft in your vehicle that is called Secure-A Key. The device installs inside the key-fob of your vehicle and then will disconnect the battery after a short period of inactivity. This can be done on most modern PKE key-fobs.
