The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors They are also adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good deal particularly if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can work while you're at work, or school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, Best Robot Hoover a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the amount of dirt they are.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be extremely useful.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map.
