World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and damage from PvE.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give an additional stat boost or effect when they're used. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on equipment that has a slot. The item must be upgraded to a blue level before the component can be used.
